Cake & Cookie Hat Boxes

Cake & Cookie Hat Boxes

Sue lives and works in Marlborough and has been a professional cake maker for many years. Whilst spending a couple of years at sea, sailing ocean yachts and looking after guests with her husband, she realised how difficult it could be to get a special gift to a loved one celebrating one of life's little and not so little milestones. She wanted to create something that was not only luxurious, but equally an indulgent gift, and who can resist the home made cooking of cakes and cookies especially presented in such beautiful and useful packaging?

Cotton Home Accessories From the Devon Countryside

Cotton Home Accessories From the Devon Countryside

Founded in the summer of 2005 by Bridget Thearle from her love of all things stripy. At her kitchen table in Devon, Bridget saw the ever changing colours of the estuary near her home and the countryside around it. She wanted to bring these colours into her home and sought out a manufacturer whose stripes Bridget felt reflected life near the sea. She began to sew. Before long she had orders from friends and family and then the business was born. She now has an outworker who helps with the sewing which enables Bridget more time to spend designing new products. She prides herself in the fact that every item is a simple, no fuss creation, individually handmade.

Traditional Wooden Toys

Traditional Wooden Toys

Out of a need to be active, after taking an early retirement, Colin and Ann Carlson felt there was a need for quality hand made wooden toys, since the average high street store was mainly offering either plastic or imported toys only. All of the toys are made to the highest standards and they all conform fully to EN71 toy safety legislation. All the wood used comes from sustainable sources and is locally grown. In fact, in many cases, it grows within a few miles of their workshop. Colin and Ann are members of the Wales Craft Council and the British Toymakers Guild and in 2003 won the BTG cup which is voted by the members, for the toymaker whose work best represents the standards of the guild. Later in 2003 they won the Longlest Cup which is voted for by children at the Festival of Wood for their most favourite toys.

Luxury Blankets

Luxury Blankets

Just Blankets was formed by Susser Sparrow, because as an Interior Designer, she felt that there was a need for luxurious blankets in vibrant colours to complement the colour scheme of a room. After hours of searching on the Internet, all she found was the usual collection of pastel colours and tartans and often of a poor quality. From the outset she ensured that all her blankets would be of the highest quality and made to her very own exacting specifications. Consequently the colours are vibrant and unique and the softness both in the cashmere and scottish ranges, is unrivalled. Susser operates her business from her beautiful home in the heart of the Devon countryside.

Handmade Rocking Horses

Handmade Rocking Horses

White Horses was started by Terry and Margaret White on a wet Sunday afternoon in 1987, when Terry, bored with his hobby of making steam engines, didn't know what to do. He had just finished making a large welsh dresser and had been pleased with his efforts in wood. On a whim Margaret suggested that he make a Rocking Horse! During the next few weeks Terry did drawings, took measurements and discovered what made a Rocking Horse rock!! The original workshop was in a garage at the bottom of the garden . They continued their day jobs, Terry selling machine tools and Margaret working with severely handicapped children until 1992 and now in 2007 they carve about 40 horses a year. Each horse is made from solid oak, seasoned and kiln dried with genuine brown horse hair mane and tail. They are all unique and heirlooms of the future.
